President’s Message

I hope everyone has had a fantastic start to the New Year. As we step into the spring of 2026, I extend warm greetings to every member of the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC) community worldwide. Spring symbolizes renewal, reflection, and forward momentum, values that resonate deeply with our society’s mission.

As we prepare for the fourth edition of Virtual Clinical Symposium on May 9, 2026, our committees and faculty are working diligently to curate a scientifically robust, clinically relevant, and highly interactive program. This flagship virtual event reflects SNACC’s commitment to accessible, high-quality education and will provide an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, case-based learning, and engagement with experts from across the world. The Committee made an effort to arrange the meeting time so that as many participants as possible from various nations could attend. I encourage all members to mark their calendars and actively participate in this important academic offering.

In addition, I am pleased to highlight preparations for the SNACC Annual Scientific Meeting, scheduled for 10–12 September 2026 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Under the leadership of our Vice President (Education and Scientific Affairs), Dr. Tumul Chowdhury, the scientific program is being thoughtfully developed to reflect cutting-edge science, clinical innovation, and multidisciplinary collaboration. This annual meeting remains the cornerstone of SNACC’s academic calendar, and I strongly encourage participants to make plans in advance for what seems to be a collaborative and intellectually stimulating event.

The ongoing growth of our international and global partnerships is one of the many things to look forward to this year. With a record number of recognized international fellowships, the ICPNT has been setting the standard for neuroanesthesia education. Under the direction of Dr. Geraldine Jose and with Dr. Alexander Papangelou serving as our society liaison, the global outreach committee has been hard at work growing and solidifying our membership outside North America and ensuring we continue to offer our worldwide members the most value possible. In keeping with this, we are also attempting to forge stronger official linkages with the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists (WFSA), the Asian Society for Neuroanesthesia and Critical Care (ASNACC), the Indian Society of Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care (ISNACC), the Neuro Anaesthesia & Critical Care Society (NACCS) of Great Britain and Ireland, Malaysian Society of Neuroanesthesiology and Neurocritical Care (MSNACC), and other global organizations with similar goals and ideals.

Our work with the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) remains a priority. Under our current Memorandum of Understanding, this year marks a significant first: the ASA will host a dedicated session during our standalone annual meeting.

The strength of SNACC comes from its people. We saw an encouraging response to our call for committee volunteers this past fall, and I want to thank everyone who stepped up. These roles are the best way to grow your network and influence the direction of our field.

We also welcome Affinity Strategies as our new management partner to help us improve our day-to-day operations and strategic growth. Please reach out to the Association Manager, Jenny Bogda, MSEd, with your queries and feedback (info@snacc.org)

Looking ahead, SNACC remains focused on advancing evidence-based neuroanesthesia and neurocritical care, supporting high-quality research and multicenter collaboration, expanding global educational outreach and digital learning, and nurturing leadership and mentorship across career stages. I thank the Executive Committee, Board members, committee chairs, and volunteers whose dedication sustains SNACC’s momentum. Most importantly, I thank you, our members, for your trust, participation, and commitment to excellence.

Together, let us continue to learn, innovate, and lead, keeping patient-centered neuroscience care at the heart of everything we do.

With warm regards and best wishes for a productive spring,

Girija Prasad Rath, MD, DM
