Dear Colleagues,
I hope you have all had a good start into the New Year 2025. By the time this newsletter is in print, 2025 will already feel like an old friend. There are many exciting events in store to look forward to for the SNACC community in 2025. We will start out strong with the third annual edition of our Spring Clinical Update on Neuroanesthesia, taking place on Zoom on April 26, 2025. The Spring Clinical Update provides a clinical refresher and update on current neuroanesthesia practice for both specialized and generalized practitioners. Once again, we have a stellar line-up of expert SNACC speakers, who will provide practice-relevant overviews of new and exciting clinical topics. Mark your calendar and tell your colleagues about this exciting April event.
Later this year, we can look forward to a fantastic Annual Meeting in Atlanta. Dr. Angele Theard and the Annual Meeting Committee are hard at work putting the finishing touches on what promises to be another outstanding conference. If you haven’t done so already, mark your calendars for September 12-14, 2025, in beautiful Atlanta, GA. For those who crave more opportunity to engage with SNACC scientific content and meet fellow neuro-nerds even before the SNACC Annual Meeting, there are additional meetings to consider. SNACC sponsored a scientific panel at this year’s IARS conference in Honolulu in March, plus there are excellent meetings organized by our global partners and affiliated societies, including the ISNACC Annual Meeting in India in January and the Neuroanesthesia Symposium in Malaysia in May.
Among the many things to look forward to this year is our continued expansion of our global and international collaborations. ICPNT has been leading the way in this endeavor with a record number of international neuroanesthesia fellowships accredited. The global outreach committee under Dr. Geraldine Jose’s leadership and society liaison Dr. Alexander Papangelou have been busy expanding and consolidating our membership outside of North America and working to ensure that we continue to provide maximum value for our global members. Along those lines, we are also working to establish more formal relationships with the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists and other international societies that share our interests and values.
SNACC thrives thanks to its members, and I was absolutely delighted to see so many of you submitted outstanding suggestions for our annual meeting program. Your contributions are sure to make our meeting even better! We have seen similarly strong engagement and a robust response to our call this fall for volunteers to serve on SNACC committees. Joining a SNACC committee is a wonderful opportunity for SNACC members to deepen their engagement with the society, enhance their networking, and create durable benefits for the society and our field. Thank you to the many, many members who volunteered to help do this important work! Committee memberships are term limited, so there will be additional opportunities to join committees later this year, if you missed the last call. As we move towards the new life and renewal that spring will bring, please ensure that you have also renewed your SNACC membership. We need your continued support so that we can continue to bring you the educational and scientific content you rightly expect from your society.
