Education Committee Update

Happy New Year! I wanted to take the opportunity to thank each of our SNACC Education Committee members for their many contributions to our educational endeavors. Welcome to our new members who have reached out to me and are eager to get involved with our committee! We have already begun assisting with planning for the 2025 Annual Meeting. The PBLD subcommittee, led by Dr. Shaun Gruenbaum, is inviting submissions for PBLD presentations. If you are interested in leading a PBLD session, please submit your name, title, affiliation, and topic to either Dr. Gruenbaum or me. The PBLD subcommittee will select 4 topics for presentation at the annual meeting in September.

Thank you to the Neuroanesthesia Quiz subcommittee comprised of Drs. Tumul Chowdhury, Adele Budiansky, Swati Chhabra, Surya Dube, Sonal Sharma, and Hui Yang for their excellent work on the most recently published quiz: “Intracranial Pressure.”

Drs. Arun George and Carine Zeeni, cochairs of the SNACC Bibliography continue to update this important resource. They are seeking expert contributors to help with updates in several content areas. If you are interested in contributing to the Bibliography, please reach out to Drs. George and Zeeni to be added to the list of contributors. Invitations will be sent to new contributors on April 1, 2025, with the deadline to submit bibliography collections on July 1, 2025.

The Patient Education Subcommittee comprised of Drs. Basma Mohamed, Jamie Uejima and Lauren Dunn recently published a series of informational handouts for patients undergoing craniotomy, spine surgery and neurointerventional radiology procedures. These resources may be shared with patients to help better educate them about what to expect during anesthesia for these neurosurgical procedures. The handouts can be accessed through the Patient Education link on the SNACC website.

Finally, we are seeking new members who are interested in committing to our numerous other subcommittee projects, including the Interactive Neuromonitoring Cases, Simulation Scenarios, Article of the Month, Clinical Audio Corner and Cognitive Aids. If you are interested in becoming involved in any of these projects, please email me for more information.
