The second wave of the pandemic was at its peak, especially in the Indian subcontinent, while preparing the contents of this summer issue of the newsletter. Delhi was one of the worst affected cities with a terrible personal account of tragedies in different forms encountered by most citizens. The unprecedented nature of the second wave wreaked havoc at many other places too. It cannot be understated that complacency in following protocols at various levels made matters worse, and the heavy price paid for it cannot be forgotten by most in their lifetime.

However, given the history, I am pretty optimistic my fellow citizens would stand tall against this test of human resilience. SNACC solidly back our ISNACC (Indian Society of Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care) colleagues during this hour of crisis. And we hope that the world would see a new ray of light soon.

The show must go on!

Despite personal setbacks, there is no compromise in this issue in terms of the contents for our readers. It contains important information on potential SNACC leaders, i.e., the nominees for the 2021 SNACC Elections! The members are strongly encouraged to participate in the election process. There are three committee reports; the membership committee encourages sharing short personal videos on your experiences with SNACC. Dr. Suneeta Gollapudy is in focus as the WINNER for this issue; thanks to Dr. Marie Angele Theard for continuing with this important article of the newsletter, which was introduced exactly two years back (Summer issue 2019).

Now, it is official that the SNACC meeting would be conducted virtually like the previous year due to the ongoing pandemic. The preparations in this regard have been briefed by Dr. Alana Flexman, the 2021 Annual Meeting Chair. We will have to wait at least another year to meet in person.

There is a steady increase in SNACC-endorsed publications in the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology (JNA). Recently, the SNACC has formalized the process for these Society-endorsed documents, which are displayed on the website and published in the JNA. The current issue also features an update on the same.

The international news section plays a significant role in highlighting the neuroanesthesia and/or neurocritical care activities in different corners of the world. In this issue of the newsletter, neuroanesthesia activities of South Korea and Nigeria are described. The neuroanesthesia leadership of other countries is also encouraged to share their point of view.

While the newsletter has adequate interesting contents and established columns, we still encourage you to provide your feedback on different articles. We are always open to your interesting contributions and ideas for the newsletter. Do email me at: girijarath.aiims@gmail.com.

Stay safe and healthy!
