We are pleased to share several updates from the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology with the SNACC membership!

  • Twitter journal clubs in perioperative neuroscience: Read an interesting overview of the role of journal clubs’ social media. To date, JNA and SNACC have held three successful joint journal clubs (check out #NeuroAnesJC on Twitter) with engagement from an international cohort of scientists, neuroanesthesiologists and neurointensivists. This editorial explores the challenges and opportunities of using social media to conduct journal clubs.

  • Deliberations on delayed cerebral ischemia after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage: In this editorial, Koenig et al provide an overview of contemporary management of delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) as well as a commentary on the article by Bernier et al in this issue. The need for preventative strategies in addition to treatment for DCI is emphasized. Bernier et al present a standard protocol for milrinone, and call for a future randomized, controlled trial to establish the safety and efficacy of milrinone in DCI.
