Moving Forward And Looking Ahead To 2022
Chanannait Paisansathan, MD, MHA
I would like to thank everyone who joined us at the 49th Annual Meeting virtually from September 10-12, 2021. It was wonderful connecting with familiar faces and welcoming our new members who attended the conference for the first time.
Thank you for all of the responses you sent me. I did not mean to fill your email inbox with my email message during the Annual Meeting. I was very excited to see everybody, even though it was virtual, and wished to express my gratitude for your time and support for SNACC. I hope you enjoyed our neuroscience scientific programs led by Alana Flexman, MD, FRCPC, and the Annual Meeting Planning Committee.
I would also like to welcome the newly elected 2021 Secretary-Treasurer, Ines Koener MD, PhD, and the Director at Large, Valpuri (Val) Luoma, MBChB, FRCA, FICM. In addition, I would like to congratulate Shobana Rajan, MD, who has been elected to a second term of the Board of Directors at Large and as Vice-Chair for the International Council of the Perioperative Neuroscience Training (ICPNT).
By the end of 2021, the global COVID-19 pandemic has evolved with different rates of vaccination and the new treatments currently available. Therefore, I am enthusiastic that the medical communities worldwide will start to see the end of this virus. What we have learned from the world disruption of this scale was beyond imagination. For the past two years, the healthcare delivery process underwent a significant stress test. It was brutal! I never thought that we would face a healthcare crisis happening in an exponential rate worldwide. Though we are not out of the woods yet, we are getting there.
SNACC has continued our mission to lead the advancement in neuroscience in anesthesiology and critical care. We have been established for 49 years. Our partnership with other societies in all continents strengthens our vision of elevating neuroscience discovery collaboration and promoting the highest quality of neuroanesthesia fellowship training.
Next year is SNACC's 50th Anniversary. It marks the milestone of the news and the optimism that will come in the next decade. The challenges over the years have not been easy. SNACC needs to adapt to the new ways of handling business, and an important decision will be required. Nevertheless, I am hopeful that we will celebrate our 50th Anniversary together and see everybody in person. I will keep everyone updated on all our current affairs.
Thank you very much for joining SNACC. I would like to hear how SNACC can serve you better. Please email me at [email protected].
