We are pleased to share several updates from the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology with the SNACC membership!
- Reviewer Acknowledgement: Dr. Martin Smith, JNA Editor-in-Chief, acknowledges and thanks all the SNACC reviewers for their service, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic given the demands on everyone’s time. As always, if you are interested in serving as a reviewer for JNA, please contact Dr. Martin Smith directly.
- Online access: Since January 2020, all SNACC memberships have included online access to the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology (print subscriptions are still available at additional cost if requested). This new feature will provide easy and rapid access to valuable JNA content for all our members.
- SNACC Consensus Statements: The Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology has worked closely with SNACC to publish the updated consensus statement on perioperative stroke, as well as two recommendations for neuroanesthesia practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. All of these documents are free to view on the JNA website:

This retrospective study found similar disease free survival times in patients who receive propofol and sevoflurane anesthesia for brain tumor resection. On secondary analysis, the authors also found a relationship between preoperative Karnofsky performance status and improved survival with propofol, although the significance of this secondary finding is unknown.

This prospective cohort study found that a NIRS-derived assessment of cerebral autoregulation (COx) was able to independently predict mortality and severe disability in acutely comatose adults with neurological injury.
