As the outbreak of COVID-19 continues to spread in the Unites States and around the world, anesthesiologists as the experts in airway management will be in the frontlines of managing critically ill patients. However, knowledge of COVID-19 is extremely important to protect ourselves while taking care of patients with COVID-19 infections. The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) has published COVID-19 (coronavirus) recommendations for its members that can be accessed here. A newly published article ‘Outbreak of a New Coronavirus: What Anesthetists Should Know’ here by British Journal of Anesthesiology (BJA) is also excellent to prepare you for the task.

SNACC always engages with its members in various ways. The first SNACC-JNA Twitter Journal Club was held on January 13, 2020 of this year. The journal club led by Dr. Kate Rosenblatt was well received from our members and was very successful. ICPNT continues to expand its accreditation to more neuroanesthesia fellowship programs. There have been seven programs accredited since May 2019, and the ICPNT is currently finishing the review process for spring 2020 accreditation. The ICPNT will begin receiving additional applications in the spring for fall accreditation.

ICPNT report provides updated information for neuroanesthesia programs around world and is featured in this spring issue of newsletter. The Annual Meeting program has been finalized and I assure you will be pleased. You can get a glimpse of the program from Dr. William Armstead’s Annual Meeting preview. I am looking forward to seeing you in September in Montréal.

As always, I welcome your feedback and please feel free to email me at any time with your opinion. I hope you enjoy the spring issue of newsletter and have a wonderful spring.
