TEC logoTrainees are the biggest backbone of our society. With the help of Trainee Engagement Committee, this year, we hosted a welcome reception for our residents and fellows. This reception was unique in the way that it included a fun game fun quiz for the trainees. On the excitement side, it was not related to neuroanesthesia at all. However, it had a great impact on the all participants’ minds. They all felt quite connected, welcomed and cheered after the session. In the scientific terms, this activity released a lot of jolly hormone endorphins. This activity better prepared our trainees for the next two days of didactic sessions. This fun reception started with the introduction of the organizer, Dr. Tumul Chowdhury, followed by the welcome remarks from the Trainee Engagement Committee Chair, Dr. Shobana Rajan, faculty at Allegheny Health Network, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The entire session was run as four rounds of pictures and visual clues questions. During the entire sessions, a lot of laughter and  ‘oh, no’ and ‘wow’ moments were heard. The excitement reached its peak when our humble judge, Dr. Bill Gross, faculty at University of Wisconsin, declared a tie for the third position. At the conclusion of the reception game, winners received gift cards and books sponsored by Drs. Shobana Rajan, Rafi Avitsian and Marie Angele Théard. At the end, organizers greeted all the participants and concluded the session. Overall, the event was well received.

After this session, I also personally met with all trainees and gathered their feedback. I am glad to share that everyone liked this welcome reception fun game event very much and they all greatly appreciated our efforts to get them engaged. Thanks to all Trainee Engagement Committee members who are working tirelessly to create a lot of opportunities for our trainees through the SNACC platform. Cheers!

The Neuroanesthesia Review Fun Quiz is an event conducted by the Trainee Engagement Committee of SNACC at the Annual Meeting at Phoenix, Arizona. The quiz was conducted in three parts: multiple choice questions, true or false questions and jumble mumble. All neuroanesthesiology questions were on the Kahoot platform with questions on a big screen with the audience answering from their cell phones racing each other to be the quickest one with the correct answer. Six prizes, all books, were rewarded and generously donated by our SNACC members. Thanks to Drs. Hemanshu Prabhakar, Jeffrey Pasternak and Tumul Chowdhury. There were many Tweets sent regarding this activity from participants expressing how engaging and fun it was.
