Diversity and inclusion are a most worthy goal, effecting a robust community that is rich in ideas, culture and curiosity. Diversity is fundamentally the relationship between a community’s distribution along a multitude of dimensions and that of the population at large.
By embracing diversity and inclusion, SNACC improves its source of innovative ideas and creative accomplishments. This year, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee was proud to highlight one of its many members, Dr. Hemanshu Prabhakar, in the Summer Newsletter. Our wish is that everyone in SNACC realizes the contributions of our diverse group of scientists, educators and clinicians to our specialty and we look forward to highlighting these achievements in our quarterly publication. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee is working on two additional initiatives to support our SNACC community: mentoring and an exchange program. Thank you to Dr. Christiano Santos for spearheading the development of an international exchange program! Regarding mentoring, we would like to invite interested investigators, educators, and clinicians to summarize their most recent publications, and/or interests and achievements, together with their contact information. Be on the lookout soon for an email on how to compile these lists as a resource for interested SNACC members who are looking for a mentor or a colleague in SNACC with similar academic interests.
Finally, we are open to hearing about any other initiatives that you have for the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
