After much of deliberation during the three scientific meetings held at Bandung, the formation of a society for neuroanesthesia and neurocritical care studies was finalized. The meeting was attended by anesthesiologists interested in neuroanesthesia and neurocritical care. Subsequently, in August 2000 at a scientific meeting held at Surabaya, the Society was formally announced with the name of Kelompok Studi Neuroanestesi & Neuro Critical Care, or for international reference, the Indonesian Society of Neuronesthesia and Critical Care (ISNACC).
In 2011, it was realized that there was another association with similar abbreviation of ISNACC (Indian Society of Neuroanesthesia & Critical Care). Hence, it was decided to change the acronym for the Indonesian society to INA-SNACC by referring to the fact that the name of our country, Indonesia, is internationally abbreviated as INA. Some of the INA-SNACC activities are ennumerated here.
SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS
The Neuroanesthesia and Critical Care (NACC) symposium was initially held annually but subsequently changed to a biennial event. Currently, these are being organized as the Joint Symposium Indonesia – Singapore in collaboration with Singapore (Table 1). The 15th INA-SNACC is scheduled to be held at Yogyakarta (Central Java) in conjunction with the 7th Joint Symposium Indonesia-Singapore during July 2020 (Figure 1).

EDUCATION
- Continuing Profesional Development (CPD) sessions of NACC (NACC CPD) are organised every year.
Three documents have been prepared for the NACC CPD: 1) Participant Workbook, 2) Instructor Workbook, and 3) Program Manual. The NACC CPD is a two-day training programme and is held at least once every year. - NACC education has been offered at the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Padjadjaran in Bandung, Indonesia, and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), Singapore with a training duration of two years.
Pursuant to the regulation of the Indonesian College of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care and INA-SNACC, Neuroanesthesia and Critical Care education has been offered at Faculty of Medicine Universitas Padjadjaran Bandung with Neuroanesthesia and Critical Care consultant from all universities in Indonesia as the lecturer(s)/instructor(s). For this, the training agenda consists of prepared lectures and practicals. In addition, a log-book and a guide book are also prepared. For the lectures, experts from TTSH, Singapore, such as Prof. Thomas Lew, Prof. Kwek Tong Kiat, Dr. See Jee Jian and Dr. Chong Chin Ted regularly contribute; they also academically support the consultants from Indonesia.
The education program was started in July 2004 with lecturers/instructors from Indonesia and Singapore. The faculty consisted of five professors from Indonesia (two from Universitas Padjadjaran, two from Universitas Airlangga, and one from Universitas Indonesia), three professors from TTSH, Singapore, 15 PhDs and other experts in Neuroanesthesia & Neuro Critical Care from Indonesia and other countries. Indonesia now has 40 designated consultants for Neuroanesthesia and Critical Care (KNA, Konsultan Neuroanestesi & Critical Care) to contribute to this program. This education programme is of a two-year duration, including two weeks to one month overseas session(s).
The activities in this education program consist of lectures, case presentations, research, literature reviews, presentation in national and international forums, and publication in the national journal (i,e JNI/Jurnal Neuroanestesi Indonesia) or international journals.
Publications Book(s) and Journal
Several Neuroanesthesia & Critical Care books on basic concepts of neuroanesthesia (dasar-dasar neuroanestesi), traumatic brain injury, and tumor supratentorial-infratentorial have been published by the authors of INA-SNACC. All of these books are written in the bahasa Indonesian language. Jurnal Neuroanestesi Indonesia (JNI) is the official journal of INA-SNACC (Figure 2) and has been published every four months. JNI is indexed on Ristekdikti, Sinta, Crossref, Garuda, ISJD (Indonesian Scientific Journal Database), Google Scholar, and WorldCat.
