It's an honor and privilege for me to be the new Editor-in-Chief of the SNACC Newsletter. I am truly grateful to Laurel Moore, MD and SNACC’s Board of Directors for the opportunity and their trust. I also want to thank my dear friend, Reza Gorji, MD, for his support and mentorship during his tenure. His dedication to the SNACC Newsletter has always inspired me. Dr. Gorji will remain on the editorial team as the Executive Editor, along with three new additional Assistant Editors; Drs. Girija Rath, Kenneth Fomberstein and Tasha Welch. Together, I believe we can make the newsletter best serve both you and our great organization.

The most important factor for SNACC’s success is recruitment, training and support of our future generations of perioperative neuroscientists. Inside this issue, you will find our President Jeffrey J. Pasternak, MD's vision for SNACC and his action plan to achieve it in the coming year. An excellent summary of 2017 SNACC Annual Meeting by Dr. Moore and other meeting reports are must-reads for those who were not able to attend the fantastic meeting held in beautiful Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Lee’s article is dedicated to remembering Dr. Edmonds Eger, a giant in anesthesiology, who passed away recently. There are many articles for you to explore in this winter issue of YOUR newsletter. I hope you enjoy them all.

I ask you for your continuing support to the SNACC Newsletter. Your contribution and active involvement play a key role in the newsletter’s success. Here’s wishing you all the best during this wonderful holiday season.
