William L. Young Neuroscience Research Award Application

Apply Today

The William L. Young Neuroscience Research Award provides $10,000 to support research related to the SNACC mission. SNACC members who are fellows or junior faculty (within 6 years of initial faculty appointment/first independent position after completion of specialty training) at the time of application are eligible. Basic, translational, clinical, or data science projects are all welcome.

Applicants are asked to submit a biosketch (NIH format), an abstract, a three-page research proposal, plus a budget justification. A timeline must be included, as the proposed studies are expected to be completed within a year. As $10,000 will rarely be sufficient to fully fund a project, additional support by the applicant’s department is required. A letter by the applicant’s chairperson describing the department’s commitment to the applicant and additional funds available for their research must be included in this application. Synergies or overlap with existing funding should be described. Funds from the William L. Young Neuroscience Research Award cannot be used to cover travel or publication costs. Applicants must be SNACC members in good standing at the time of application to be considered for the award. Successful applicants are expected to report on their progress at the end of the award period.

Applications will undergo peer review and be evaluated in the areas of significance/innovation, approach/feasibility, investigator/departmental support, and relevance to the SNACC mission. The award recipient will be notified and formally announced at the current year’s SNACC Annual Meeting in the Fall. The award recipient is expected to attend the current year’s SNACC meeting in person and will be expected to present the results of the funded study at the following year’s SNACC Annual Meeting. No indirect costs are awarded with this grant and registration for the SNACC meeting is not waived.

Application Deadline: Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11:59 pm ET

Please download the application form, and complete all the necessary information and submit before the July 15 deadline for consideration.
