SNACC–ASNACC Joint Society Abstract Award: Advancing Global Collaboration in Perioperative Neuroscience

The Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC) and the Asian Society for Neuroanesthesia and Critical Care (ASNACC) are pleased to announce the inaugural SNACC–ASNACC Joint Society Abstract Award, a new collaborative initiative designed to promote scientific inquiry, support emerging investigators, and strengthen research partnerships between the global neuroanesthesia communities.

The first SNACC–ASNACC Research Award will be granted to Dr. Yiwei Chen of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University Beijing, China, in recognition of Dr. Chen’s research work investigating the use of Esketamine on postoperative sleep disturbance in patients undergoing spinal surgery: a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial. His research addresses an area of growing clinical and scientific interest, particularly the potential role of Esketamine in anesthetic management and its implications for perioperative neurological and patient-centered outcomes. Dr. Chen will be presenting this abstract in the upcoming SNACC Meeting in Raleigh.

The establishment of this award represents an important milestone in the partnership between SNACC and ASNACC. Beyond recognizing scientific merit, the initiative reflects the shared commitment of both societies to advancing perioperative neuroscience through research, mentorship, academic exchange, and international collaboration.

By supporting promising investigators and clinically relevant research, the SNACC–ASNACC Research Award seeks to encourage innovative studies that can contribute to evidence-based neuroanesthesia and neurocritical care practice. It also provides a platform for strengthening research networks between investigators in Asia and the broader international neuroscience in anesthesiology community of SNACC.

SNACC and ASNACC warmly congratulate Dr. Chen on becoming the inaugural recipient of this award. We look forward to following the progress of his research and to seeing this collaborative program grow as a meaningful bridge for scientific discovery, mentorship, and global partnership in neuroanesthesia and perioperative neuroscience.

The inaugural SNACC–ASNACC Research Award marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in international academic collaboration—one that brings together investigators, mentors, and professional societies with a shared goal: advancing science to improve neurological outcomes for patients worldwide.
