It is with great pleasure to update the SNACC members on the recent successful 18th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists in Singapore March 3-7, 2024. Together with my co-chair of the Neuroscience Track, Prof. Matthew Chan (Hong Kong), we extend our sincere thank you to the excellent speakers in the neuroscience track, which was a great success. Many of the speakers and abstract presenters were also members of SNACC, and it was fantastic to see many of our colleagues and fellow SNACC members in attendance from around the world. I am delighted to be able to celebrate our wonderful neuroanesthesia community.
Notable features of our track included a (sold-out!) high-fidelity simulation workshop on neuroanesthesia emergencies, organized by Dr. Shobana Rajan (Cleveland Clinic, USA), Dr. Shobana Murugan (UT, USA), Dr. Chong Chin Ted (Singapore), and Dr. Chong Shang Yee (Singapore). Another highlight was an update on neuroanesthesia fellowship training and ICPNT, provided by speakers Drs. Val Luoma (incoming Vice-Chair ICPNT), Shobana Rajan (current Vice-Chair ICPNT), Tumul Chowdhury (ICPNT EC Member & Chair Fellowship Review Committee), Chanhung Lee (Chair, Program Relations Committee). Other sessions included an update on anesthesia care for intracranial aneurysms, depth of anesthesia monitoring, traumatic brain injury, recipes for common neuroanesthesia cases, enhanced recovery after complex spine surgery, perioperative cerebral perfusion and stroke, and pain management after neurosurgical procedures. The neuroscience track was well-attended, with standing room only in several of the sessions and a sold-out simulation workshop. Finally, over 100 abstracts were presented, and moderated by the track faculty.
Please enjoy a sampling of photographs from the conference, and great to see many of you there!
