The Society for Neuroanesthesia of the Philippines (SYNAPS), in cooperation with the Asian Society for Neuroanesthesia and Critical Care (ASNACC) and with the special participation of the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC), successfully conducted its First Hybrid SYNAPS Summit on June 18–19, 2025. The event, entitled NEXUS – Neuroanesthesia Experts United with Other Specialties: Unveiling A Collective Alliance, marked a milestone in interdisciplinary collaboration in perioperative neuroscience.
The theme of the postgraduate course focused on the evolving intersection of Neuroanesthesia with other specialties including Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Complex Airway Management, Regional Anesthesia, Neurointervention, Cardiovascular Anesthesia, and Critical Care. This cross-disciplinary approach highlighted the shared goal of brain health optimization and protection to achieve better functional outcomes for patients in the perioperative period.
A key highlight of the summit was the multispecialty round table discussions, which received enthusiastic feedback from the 350 participants hailing from across the Philippines. These dynamic exchanges emphasized the significance of collaborative strategies in addressing complex clinical scenarios.
The event was further elevated by a keynote lecture from Dr. Ines Koerner, who delivered an outstanding presentation on Post-Cardiac Arrest Brain Injury and Prognostication, sharing critical insights into current challenges and innovations in the field.
The summit underscored how collaborative efforts between societies with aligned missions—such as SYNAPS, ASNACC, and SNACC—can enrich the educational experience and advance the field of neuroanesthesiology and critical care across Asia.
SYNAPS extends its sincere gratitude to SNACC for their participation and support and looks forward to continued partnerships in future endeavors aimed at enhancing perioperative neuroscientific care.
