PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Alana Flexman MD, MBA, FRCPC
SNACC President
I hope this message finds you well, rested and renewed. As we begin the new year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on our past accomplishments and look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
January marks the start of a new year filled with possibilities and potential. It is a time to renew our commitment to advancing research, education and clinical practice in neuroanesthesia and neurocritical care, and ensure we are maximizing our impact on the greater anesthesiology community. As an academic society, we have a unique responsibility to shape the future by fostering a culture of inquiry, discovery, and collaboration and leading perioperative neuroscience.
I would also like to celebrate our close relationships with our peer organizations in neuroanesthesia and neurocritical care. SNACC recently formalized our society affiliation policy with a view to expanding our collaborative network globally. We are fortunate to have two global partners, the SNACC has established global partnerships with the Indian Society of Neuroanesthesiology and Critical Care (India) and the Neuro Anaesthesia & Critical Care Society (United Kingdom). Most recently, SNACC has approved formal affiliations with the Malaysian Society of Neuroanesthesiology (Malaysia) and Neurocritical Care and the Society of Neurocritical Care (India). We look forward to a strong and productive relationship with our affiliated organizations, recognizing our mutual interests and support.
I am proud of the work we have done over the past year, and I am confident that we will continue to make meaningful contributions in the years ahead. SNACC is in the process of undertaking strategic planning, with the aim to refresh and renew our vision, mission, values and goals for the coming years. Our Board of Directors and Committee Chairs will be meeting for the first strategic planning retreats in February. Thank you to those who participated in the survey, as we will be considering the feedback from all those who responded to our call. We look forward to sharing our plan in September at the Annual Meeting.
Let us embrace the new year with enthusiasm and a shared sense of purpose. Together, we can make a difference and inspire future generations to carry on our work.
Wishing you all a happy and productive spring!
