Program Director: Dr Faraz Shafiq MBBS, MCPS, FCPS
This program in Pakistan was initiated in July 2025 by Dr. Faraz Shafiq and they welcomed the first fellow in January this year. - University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Pittsburgh, PA, USA
Program Director: Dr Sonal Sharma MD
Dr. Sonal Sharma is the program director at UPMC, an academic center with over 4000 neurosurgical cases annually.
Congratulations to both programs on completing this! Both programs achieved full 5 -year accreditation. We look forward to our future collaboration.
ICPNT Masterclass
We are excited to share details of the 2026 ICPNT Masterclass which will take place on 10th September 2026 as part of the SNACC Annual Meeting in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The ICPNT Masterclass is aligned with the ICPNT Curriculum and split into two sections:
- Clinical Skills Workshops: practical sessions focused on skills important to the delivery of high quality, safe perioperative care including regional techniques, point-of-care ultrasound and neuromonitoring.
- Neuroanesthesia Crisis Management: these sessions have been developed in collaboration with the SNACC to build on the SNACC Cognitive Aids for Neuroanesthesia Crisis Management. This section includes sessions on both rare events such cardiac arrest in prone position during neurosurgery as well as key clinical topics such as perioperative anticoagulation.
Participants will be able to attend four of the six offered sessions allowing them to tailor the program to personal learning needs. The ICPNT Masterclass is open to all and will focus on sharing the most up-to-date knowledge for clinical practice in perioperative neuroscience.
The ICPNT Masterclass will once again conclude with the hugely popular quiz, developed and led by Colleen Naglee.
A huge thank you to the ICPNT Masterclass Organising Committee, Drs Dana Baron, Michael Dinsmore, Chanhung Lee, Alex Papangelou and Alan Young for all their dedication and hard work!
ICPNT Program Directors Meeting
A lot is achieved by the ICPNT-accredited centres around the world over the year and the September SNACC Annual Meeting provides an excellent opportunity to share experiences, celebrate the achievements of our ICPNT fellows and learn from the innovative and outstanding work done by neuroanesthesiology fellowship programs.
At this year’s meeting, we will review and discuss feedback, identify strengths and opportunities for improvement. We will also hear from programs that have experienced successful fellow recruitment and explore the keys to their success. In addition to this year, we will have a presentation of the proposed SNACC exam question bank and finally, some conversation around equitable experience and graduation of fellows from the ICPNT programs and to highlight the graduation ceremony of ICPNT fellows at the SNACC business meeting.
We would like to hear from programs that would like to help create an observership/rotation for ICPNT fellows and those that could host ICPNT Fellows from other neuroanesthesiology fellowship programs. Kindly email info@icpnt.org to express your ability to support this collaboration between centres and enrich our fellows’ education.
We look forward to having you join us for the Neuroanesthesiology Fellowship Program Directors meeting which will be held on the 10th of September 2026 at 7:30am. Please do RVSP to your email invitation so we can appropriately plan for breakfast catering!
