Education Committee Update

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Annual SNACC Meeting in September. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Education Committee meeting and to each and every one of our members for generously donating your time and expertise to our endeavors. Our “Problem-Based Learning Discussion” (PBLD) subcommittee successfully planned four sold-out PBLD sessions for this year’s Annual Meeting. Thanks especially to our PBLD presenters for their excellent presentations: Drs. Jamie Uejima and Jacqueline Morano (Perioperative management of neurologic stimulators during non-neurologic surgery), Dr. Shilpa Rao (Intraoperative loss of neuromonitoring signals: troubleshooting tips), Dr. Ashish Bindra (Management of traumatic brain injury), and Dr. Maya Mikami (Challenging awake craniotomy). If you are interested in presenting a PBLD session for next year’s meeting please reach out to Dr. Shaun Gruenbaum (sgruenbaum@gmail.com) or me (lak3r@uvahealth.org).

The Neuroanesthesia Quiz subcommittee comprised of Drs. Tumul Chowdhury, Adele Budiansky, Swati Chhabra, Surya Dube, Sonal Sharma, and Hui Yang recently published their newest quiz: “Stroke in Surgical Patients”. Be sure to check it out!

Drs. Arun George and Carine Zeeni completed a massive update to our Bibliography which they will continue to update biennially moving forward. They are still seeking expert contributors to help with updates in several content areas. Please reach out to Drs. George and Zeeni if you are interested in contributing (arun.george.dr@gmail.com).

Also a big thank you to our members who have contributed to our numerous other subcommittee projects, including the Interactive Neuromonitoring Cases, Simulation Scenarios, Article of the Month, Clinical Audio Corner and Cognitive Aids. We look forward to creating new content this year and welcome any ideas for new projects! If you are interested in becoming involved in the Education Committee or joining any of these groups, please feel free to email me at lak3r@uvahealth.org.
