Education Committee Update

It was wonderful to see many of you at the annual meeting and at the ASA meeting in San Antonio. Many thanks to each and every one of you for all of your efforts towards our educational initiatives this year!

Congrats to the Neuroanesthesia Quiz Subcommittee for publishing their 100th Quiz! Please see the SNACC newsletter for a special feature celebrating this exciting milestone. After years of service to this committee, Dr. Sonal Sharma will be stepping down from her role. Thank you so much for all of your contributions Sonal! If you are interested in joining and contributing to this committee, please reach out to Dr. Tumul Chowdury (tumulthunder@gmail.com).

This year the PBLD Subcommittee selected 4 PBLD sessions for the annual meeting – all of which were sold out! We received excellent feedback from those in attendance. Thanks to those who presented! Given the number of submissions this year and the popularity of these sessions, we are hoping to expand to 5 PBLD sessions in the coming years. Be on the lookout for these presentations to be posted to the PBLD section of the SNACC website. This committee is also welcoming new members. Please contact Dr. Shaun Gruenbaum (sgruenbaum@gmail.com) if you are interested in joining.

A new Clinical Audio Corner is now available on the SNACC website and can be found here:  https://snacc.org/education-corner/clinical-audio-and-video-corner/. Dr. Kelsey Serfozo interviews Dr. Gabrielle White-Dzuro and Dr. Arney Abcejo about Venous Air Embolism. This committee, which includes Dr. Serfozo, Dr. Alex Papaganelou (alexander.papangelou@emory.edu) and Dr. Benjamin Gruenbaum (Gruenbaum.Benjamin@mayo.edu),  invites members who are interested in contributing new sessions this coming year to contact them. This is a great opportunity for our residents and fellows to interview experts in the field!

The Neuromonitoring Cases subcommittee led by Dr. Laura Hemmer (l-hemmer@northwestern.edu) and Dr. Natalie Moreland are working to update current and add additional cases this year. Please reach out to them if you are interested in assisting with this project.

The SNACC bibliography underwent its 2-year update this spring in an effort led by Drs. Arun George and Carine Zeeni. Carine has recently decided to step down from this role, and we are recruiting a volunteer to assist Arun with the next bibliography update. Please contact him if you are interested (arungeorgedr@gmail.com).

The most recent Simulation Scenario on VAE was contributed by Dr. Erin Plaza. The committee is interested in generating new scenarios for the website. If you are interested in contributing to this effort, please contact Erin (eplaza@kumc.edu).

As always, if you have any colleagues who are interested in joining our committee, please have them reach out to me (lak3r@uvahealth.org)!
