Dear SNACC Newsletter Readers,
It is an honor to assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of the SNACC Newsletter. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Tumul Chowdhury, the current SNACC Secretary-Treasurer and past Editor-in-Chief, for nominating me and to the SNACC Board for their support. I am especially grateful to Dr. Chowdhury for his invaluable assistance in preparing this issue and for his ongoing mentorship.
The success of the SNACC Newsletter relies heavily on the contributions of many individuals. I would like to thank our Assistant Editors, Drs. Jayanth Seshan, Arun George, Kristof Nijs, and Anne Twardowsky Di Donato, for their diligent efforts in reviewing submissions. Additionally, I would like to acknowledge Drs. Anne Di Donato, Ruquan Han, and Juan Fiorda-Diaz for translating key articles for our international readers. My gratitude also extends to all committee chairs and members for their diverse contributions to each issue, as well as to Jason Hornick and Lee Bryan Charak from the IMI AE team for their work in publishing each issue.
In this edition, you will find our informative “Medically Challenging Case” and “EEG Signature” articles, along with content related to the SNACC Annual Meeting, which was held in Denver, Colorado, this past September. SNACC President Dr. Ines Koerner shares an update on international conference attendees, while President Elect Dr. Girija Rath provides a comprehensive review of conference activities. The ICPNT also offers an update on its initiatives, including the accreditation of additional neuroanesthesia fellowships and the success of the SNACC Meeting ICPNT Masterclass.
This issue also features a Q&A with Professor Martin Smith, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology and this year’s recipient of the SNACC Distinguished Service Award. I hope you enjoy learning about Professor Smith’s career and his insights on leadership and mentorship.
Thank you once again for your contributions and support of the SNACC Newsletter. Please feel free to contact me with any feedback or comments.
Sincerely,
Adele Budiansky, MD FRCPC
