Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society Neuroanesthesia Section Update

The Neuroanesthesia Section of the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society delivered a successful and well-attended scientific program at the Annual Scientific Meeting in June. We were delighted to welcome Dr. Alex Papangelou as our visiting speaker. Dr. Papangelou participated in a lively debate on whether EEG should be a standard monitor for all general anesthetics and shared practical insights during the panel session Total Intravenous Anesthesia: Principles, Precision, and the Brain. We were also pleased to welcome back Dr. Tumul Chowhury, past Chair of the Neuroanesthesia Section, who returned from the University of Alabama to present Neuroanesthesia in the Non-Operating Room Environment. Additional sessions included Perioperative Management of Patients with Neurological Stimulator Devices and Resuscitation in the Prone Position. The meeting provided an important opportunity for members of our small but active section to meet in person, exchange ideas, and strengthen our professional network. Dr. Bryan Glezerson will assume the Section Chair role in September.
