The Teacher of the Year/Lifetime Educator Award recognizes SNACC members who exemplify a career dedicated to teaching and mentoring of health care professionals and basic scientists in the areas of perioperative neurosciences. Being a leader in education with an outstanding portfolio of training, guiding young scientists and clinical practitioners, excellence in professionalism, distinguished mentoring abilities, commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and innovations in the field of education are some of the criteria that the Nomination Committee will consider when choosing the recipient of this award. Years of mentoring and teaching after completion of postgraduate education is an important selection factor.
Membership of SNACC is a prerequisite for receipt of this award, although nominations can be made by SNACC members and non-members. Nominations should include a biographical sketch of the nominee, and a two paragraph statement describing the credentials of the nominee for this award. In addition, testimonials from two previous trainees or mentees who support the nomination should be provided.
Recipients of this award will receive:
- A plaque of recognition presented at the SNACC 48th Annual Meeting on Sunday, September 13, 2020.
- Recognition on the SNACC website.
- Recognition in the SNACC Annual Meeting update published in the SNACC Newsletter.
